Producer Guide: Chateau Sociando-Mallet (Bordeaux, France)
Highly respected estate in the Haut-Modoc overlooking the Gironde estuary.
Today, owner Jean Gautreau oversees 85 hectares planted with 48% Cabernet Sauvignon, 47% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc. The vines are have an average age of 30 plus years and are planted in excellent gravelly soils.
Haut-Médoc AOC 2015 by Chateau Sociando-Mallet Abundant casis and black fruit on the nose it leads into a wonderfully rich and ripe palate with dense forest fruit. It's still fresh but with plenty of prominent Cabernet tannin. (June 2017)
