Producer Guide: Domaine Papagiannakos (Peloponnese, Greece)

Domaine Papagiannakos is a large winery based in Attica, not far from the Greek capital Athens.

They are known for producing clean, modern wines from both local and international varieties.

Savatiano is planted in limestone soils in South East Attica where the vines are over 50 years old now. It's a massive site but nevertheless not irrigated. The wines are fermented in stainless steel to preserve the freshness of the fruit and are released early.

Markopoulo PGI Savatiano 'Old Vine' 2015 by Domaine Papagiannakos Luxurious colour of bright gold, it shows and interesting nose of citrus and smoke, with lots of floral fragrance adding complexity. It's rich and oily on the palate while maintaining impressive freshness and balance.
