Pantelleria is home to world class sweet wines produced from Moscato (or Zibibbo as it is known here) in the passito style.

Pantelleria is actually closer to Tunisia than it is to Sicily but nevertheless the little boats that ferry crates of harvested grapes back to Sicily remains one of the iconic annual images of Italaim winemaking.

There is a small movement of producers making sparkling wine on the island but we are yet to see many in commercial circles, or indeed any that really capture the imagination.
