Bobal is picked from old vines, destemmed and gently pressed before undergoing a long maceration at a controlled temperature with some pumping over. Malolactic fermentation takes place with the wine subsequenlty aged in new American and French ‘Allier’ barrels for a minimum of eight months.
Utiel-Requena DO 'Cepas Viejas' 2014 by Bodegas Murviedro Charming notes of berry fruit and sweet spice on the nose, along with subtle notes of vanilla and toffee. In the mouth the wine is smooth and velvetty, yet still light and fresh. Although not hugely complex, this is a very good wine with a long, attractive finish of refinied forest fruits. Three years from the vintage this is really starting to open up and show its personality. (November 2017)
