Although Samtskhe-Javakheti is one of the largest regions in Georgia, and not too far south of Imreti, wine production is fairly limited. Vineyards are focussed around the main rivers and tributaries that occupy the centre of the region and more specifically around the administrative town of Akhaltsikhe. Nevertheless it's a beautiful area littered with churches, monasteries, fortresses and national parks. As the main road heads south from Aspindza other wine focussed villages contribute to the region's output.
