Little is really known about Bosnian wines. Some would say there isn't much to know, but despite the lack of international presence there are a few things of note happening in Bosnia and Herzegovina at the moment.
So much of western imagination on Bosnia focussed in on the regional troubles of the early 90s. So much of the country however is beautiful scenery. The potential for quality wine production is high.
The most important wine region is Mostar and it is here the the key red grape variety, Blatina, is grown.
Zilvaka, also found elsewhere in the Balkans, is one of the more interesting local varieties to be used. In older plantings in particular Zilavka seems to be capable of producing crisp, mineral driven wines.
