The Blagny AOC is unique within Burgundy, producing only red wines from Pinot Noir and sharing its Premier Cru vineyards with the more famous white wine appellations of Meursault and Puligny Montrachet. There are seven Premier Cru climats officially recognised under the Blagny designation, including La Pièce sous le Bois, Sous le Dos d’Ane, and La Jeunelotte. These high-altitude sites yield red wines with lifted aromatics, firm structure, and marked freshness, offering a more austere but ageworthy interpretation of Côte de Beaune Pinot Noir.
