San Giovanni is a modestly sized MGA in the commune of Monforte d’Alba, set on steep, well-exposed slopes with compact clay-limestone soils. The site produces structured, full-bodied Barolo with dark fruit, firm tannins, and a mineral-driven backbone, characteristic of Monforte’s robust style. Though not as widely recognised as some of its neighbouring crus, San Giovanni offers depth and ageing potential, appealing to those who favour powerful, traditional expressions of Barolo.
