It is Burgundy Week in the UK, and as tastings, offers, and opinions begin to circulate, the 2024 vintage is at the forefront of fine wine conversation. This was not an easy vintage, and producers struggled throughout the year. Across the region, and especially in Chablis, the growing season was defined by relentless rain, disease pressure, and the loss of crop. There are exceptions to every rule, but in general, Chardonnay fared much better than Pinot Noir. Earlier drinking wines and scarcity will be the defining characteristics of the vintage.
